How to find purpose through employment
Yes you can, but you have to start by taking small action every day.
Hello my friends,
One of the most delightful things in my life is reconnecting with people I used to spend time with and learning about what they are up to. One of those people is my friend Angie – we shared a dorm in college and after learning what she does now, I knew I had to soak up her knowledge and share with all of you.
First of all, this is one wise woman. When you listen to the interview, pay attention to how insightful and self-aware she is – probably the reason why she is so good at what she does. Secondly, she is a sweetheart. She is generous, smart and has a huge heart. Lastly, she is clearly brilliant at what she does. It’s beautiful to watch people at their craft.
Angie brings us a side of purpose that is key to us being happy: she is a Talent Director for a local company and as such, in charge of finding the right people for the open positions they need. Her job is to match the skills people have with the jobs available, but she also goes the extra mile: she looks for passion alignment.
She shares what she sees when interviewing people and offers advice on finding a perfect job and also has a great understanding and appreciation of millennials (something she schooled me on), and she highlights the key things we all need to focus on when looking for employment.
Angie shares a transformational exercise she used in her life and what she shares with people she interviews.
She talks about her love affair with Strengths finder and how she resists temptation to compare herself to others – this one is a gem!
Lastly, if you hate your job – she has a very clear message for you and gives you an exercise that could help you right now.
This is your chance to peek behind the curtain and look at the hiring perspective and what employers are starting to look for – you are welcome:)
Angie, thank you for being purpose whisperer and for changing lives because you go the extra mile and have an understanding of what it means to find fulfillment in work.
Folks, if you know of anyone who could benefit from hearing this message, please share. Don’t assume that people’s level of success equals life satisfaction. We need to give other permission to not only find good and stable jobs, but purpose and fulfillment that comes with it.
As always, I love getting your emails and feedback. Thank you for being Purpose watchers as part of my tribe and for nudging all those around you to ask more from life.
Yes you can, but you have to start by taking small action every day. Here’s that interview that you must see – I promise it will give you many “AHA” moments.
