One great breakthrough in my life

Yes you can, but you have to start by taking small action every day.

Today I want to talk about one great breakthrough in my life, working out and actually enjoying it. I am a very forward thinking person so I don’t spend too much time on my accomplishments. An accomplishment or breakthrough can be very powerful though so I wanted to share one (very personal) breakthrough with you all.

It has to do with my ability to finally workout and actually enjoy staying fit.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted fitness to be a part of my life. Partly because these cool Americans (:)) looked good doing it and partly because I had addiction to Bosnian pastries (at the time, I truly don’t recall any of it being related to health- hey, just being honest!).

Back in Bosnia, I ran on a school track and then had people come to my parents asking if I was normal…..you only ran in Bosnia if someone was chasing you. So I stopped. Then, I came to the US and discovered gyms. I tried this fitness thing so many times and I always felt jittery and would eventually stop. That was until I found my husband years ago who is a triathlete and super commited to fitness.

Above is a recent pic of me proud to be loving fitness on a consistent basis

He taught me about consistency, the right expertise and proper nutrition. One thing I couldn’t handle though was being on a cardio machine for an hour. I still can’t do it, it bores me to death. Then, I discovered a better way to workout out: lifting weights and doing hight intensity interval training and fell in love with it.

Why I am telling you this, you wonder?

For years I tried to workout constantly and even love fitness but I always seemed to give up after something didn’t work. I kept looking out of desperation. And I kept looking and trying and looking and trying until I found what worked for me.

So how can you relate this to your life right now?

If there is something right now NOT working out for you (in any part of your life) don’t assume that what worked for others will work for you. Try it but if it doesn’t work, don’t get discouraged. Keep trying and find your thing, that something that works for you and your life. You will eventually find it (you have to if you keep looking long enough) but before it comes, you have to keep looking and keep trying for your breakthrough.

I know this is hard but this is one of the greatest traits a human being can have in order to live a successful and resilient life. One size doesn’t fit all and one day you will find just the right fit for you, whether it has to do with purpose, business, life partner or abs of steel

Change can seem impossible sometimes but I really think it’s often about the stages and time you need to mature into your own. Here’s a recent video I did about it.

The danger behind fitting in

Someone recently set me on fire by saying that I should make sure my kids fit into the American society by going out my way to provide cultural experiences because their parents are immigrant and God forbid they stood out. I think this is how we create cages for our kids and ourselves and it’s a danger to society and I explain why.

80/20 formula

80/20 formula

As I develop personally and work with others, I am tapping into something rather magical and during a very early morning meditation, it came to me as 80/20 formula and I wanted to share it with you.

This past week, I wanted to throw in the towel

This past week, I wanted to throw in the towel

I am the most optimistic, glass half full and “things are going to work out” person in the entire world. I just am, I was born this way. Then, this past week I have experienced some really tough conversations and some really negative people. At some point, I got so discouraged and just wanted to go away.
