Jasna Burza
Good morning.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
So glad to see you again. And I’m excited about this topic. Because I think it’s personal to everyone. Let’s talk about confidence. And first of all, what is it?

Jasna Burza
Confidence is really this this mind trick. It’s an internal feeling and trust or belief in our ability to control our life. So very often, it’s a confidence about approaching someone, or handling a situation or going after something, we’re really one. But he’s just in short, and very layman’s language is feeling like I got this, I can do it. I have confidence and courage to do it. And most importantly, for our conversation, it’s a muscle that can be strengthened by anyone living today.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
Well, I noticed people who have confidence, I’m always impressed by them. And I always walk away thinking, wow, how did they do that? And how do you strengthen that muscle?

Jasna Burza
I feel the same when I watch a beautiful man or a woman that they just really carried themselves. There’s something aromatic if I can use that word for it, and it inspires me. But some people we think they’re born with it, the muscle can be strengthened by by a few very, very quick things. I have five tips for us today that I have used many times it for myself and reclines the number one is that we have to start by setting small and achievable goals. Just like we go to a gym and you flex that muscle you start by five rounds, you go up to 10 pounders, same with confidence, starting something that feels like, whoo, I’ve been meaning to do that. But I’m a little bit scared. So this is not something that’s going to leave you hyperventilating. But something that’s low hanging fruit, and you just say, I’m gonna go and do it. I’m just gonna, I’m just gonna go for it. Okay. And, and that leads me into number two, which is following through on it. So there’s, if I may, fantastic story, great athlete, author Susan Jeffers wrote the book, you will love this. Called feel the fear and do it anyway. And she talks about these fears about these big mountains that we just can’t seem to climb. So what we do normally, I don’t know about you, but I feel I see something like I don’t know if I can do that. And then I inch towards it. And then sometimes I give up, right? Like we all do. But then what happens is sometimes make it half the mountain, and something happens and we try two or three times. And then we say well, I tried it, I can’t do that. I’m just not confident good enough, etcetera, etcetera. That’s not true. We just didn’t follow through on it. Isn’t that wonderful?

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
Yes, follow through. I love that. And then what’s number three?

Jasna Burza
Number three is focusing on what we are good at. People who are confident, are very well aware of what their strengths are and what they’re good at. And they’re also very good at acknowledging what they’re not good at. So owning your shadows, and then you really seek to strengthen the things that you’re good at, and you can do them. So the more you acknowledge that you are really boosting your self esteem and you’re saying okay, well, I mean, I have confidence in this arena, but here’s what I’m really really good at and I can get good at that as well because maybe one of my greatest skills is trying and and falling through.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
Great. And number four. Okay,

Jasna Burza
so this is this is great. I one of my favorite I can’t this is incredibly important for you and I and every human out there. It’s called enclosed cognition. It is this concept that was terms about 15 years ago, but it refers to the systematic influence that clothing has on our psychology. So today, I put on what I thought was the most confidence way in which I can present myself so it really matters how what do we wear, what do we dress how we show up right? I didn’t show up in my robe I didn’t show up in my PJs. I showed up in an outfit in that include cognition that I feel I am the most confident today so for everyone watching today, we have been at home for two years in our PJs and a little lemons and in all the yoga clothing right? powerful it is to put on a necklace that you really like powerful it is to put on a ring or a bracelet or a jacket or do your hair put on a lipstick for women and, and all of these things that I think are incredibly, incredibly important.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
Okay, yeah, we can do it. Step it up a notch and You know, what’s the last step?

Jasna Burza
The last one is get moving, exercising. When we feel good, we look good. And then in terms again, we feel good. Feeling good in our body physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, but moving our body just makes us feel like I got this I’m writing, I’m in a fighting force for today. So after this, I’m gonna go to the gym and take my own medicine because it just makes us feel sometimes like we can fly. There’s a, of course, biological reason for it because of all the endorphins and all of that, but it just makes us feel stronger. And there’s a huge correlation between the physical strength and how we feel in our body, and of course, mentally, how we present ourselves

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
and I love that strong inside and outside. Thank you so much, Dallas now. We’ll see you next week. Thank you

is more accessible than ever. It’s something that takes work, but I believe it’s Oh, so worth it. Here’s a life coach Jana Borzoi. On the power of self development. Yasmin, good morning.

Jasna Burza
Good morning to those a bit.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
Okay, something I’m pretty passionate about personal development. We see it everywhere right now. But why is it so important?

Jasna Burza
Personal development is the thing that makes us us. It helps us assess our life goals, and really helps us become the best version of ourselves. It helps us to be proactive, take charge of our actions. And it really shows that people who invest in personal development has success and satisfaction in life. And you know, I do believe Warren Buffett Buffett said it I do believe that the greatest investment that we can make is investment in ourselves. And that is personal development continually working on becoming the better version of ourselves.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
And another one big part of it is consuming. There’s so many things out there, but books, podcasts, advice, therapy, all of that.

Jasna Burza
Absolutely. There, there really is, I think we have to determine what we need at the time. But we don’t have to spend a dime. And it’s so readily available, especially today, there is so many incredible trainings and podcasts and books. And I think that if you’re willing, that’s all you need is time.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
And one thing that’s helped me with self awareness, as simple as it sounds, is even Instagram, following people like you, I mean, there’s a lot of people on there giving insightful advice. And like you said, it’s free.

Jasna Burza
It really is because of the social media has, there’s the double edge to it. It’s such a blessing, because we do have access to information. And I think that it does give us a moment of self awareness. Because when we get to know who we are what we want, and when we don’t want, we can design the life based on where we were, what what do we need, and I think that’s such a great, great gift. And I

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
think that’s what this is about right? Is is getting life direction and clarity at the end of the day that comes from personal development.

Jasna Burza
Absolutely. Because when we have clarity about where we’re going, what do we want to do for the the plan for life, decision making becomes a lot easier you say no to things that you know, are not part of that plan and the tasks, they really are so difficult for us. We they just don’t, they’re not as difficult because we know we have a why. And I think that there gives us an incredible focus and clarity, it gives us the motivation. And we become so much better about prioritization. And again, people who invest in themselves and they get to know themselves. There’s an incredible sense of confidence about showing up in the world, which directly relates to self esteem. And then success and productivity in the world that we’ve talked about so much of that on the show. Yeah,

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
I mean, in the end here, it’s worth it to do the work. Oh,

Unknown Speaker
all these My goodness, well, look at the world that we live in right now.

Jasna Burza
So let’s really personal development to the challenges in life. There will be tough times in life and when they when these things occur. When we have taken the time to develop, we will have greater confidence, resilience, personal and interpersonal skills, we will have better relationships and those really make up our life. So I’m such I’m such a big proponent of always working on ourselves, because it’s not just us that we’re happier. But I do believe that we make this world a better place.

Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield
I agree. Thank you so much, Jasmine.

Jasna Burza
Oh, thank you. It’s such a pleasure.
