Can you have roots and wings at the same time?
My guilty pleasure is watching the show Nashville. I am not exactly a country girl but that show just makes me very happy because the music is so beautiful and I appreciate the writing very much.
Few weeks ago, they did a song called Roots and Wings (you can check it out here). It made me think about my journey, the things I want to accomplish in life all while deciding to stay home part time with my children.
Can you have roots and wings at the same time?
Can you dream, be a visionary, want more (waaaaay more) AND be ok with where you are right now?
To me, this is the key to happiness.
We all have dreams, visions and desires. We want more out of life but the problem arises when we look at our current situation and get disappointed because there is a disconnect between the two.
The reality today doesn’t match the vision of the future.
-
- Wanting a fit body while eating chips on the couch.
- Wanting a better social life but never reaching out to friends.
- Wanting a successful career but not having anything to show.
- Wanting financial freedom but spending money like crazy.
Need I go on?
The key is wanting all of those things and believing that you are capable of achieving them AND being grateful for what you have now.
After all, it is more than likely that what you have now is a result of a desire that years ago, it might have been just a dream.
We will never – E V E R – stop wanting more and we will never stop growing and changing. Today, be kind with yourself and know that every setback may be perfectly orchestrated for you.
It is enough. YOU are enough. Right here, right now – it is enough.
For me, this means keeping the vision alive AND being present with my six month old baby knowing that he will never be this young again.
Just look at what you have accomplished already and for a moment, say thank you and give yourself one big pat on the back.
You rock. I know it.
I hope you find peace in that. You are where you need to be and tomorrow, well – tomorrow is another day.
