Julie Burton: self care, entrepreneurship and ModernWell

Yes you can, but you have to start by taking small action every day.

Before I even met Julie Burton, I had read her book: The Self-Care Solution: A Modern Mother’s Must-Have Guide to Health and Well-Being. At the time, I was getting up at night to breastfeed, managing two toddlers and still managing to work. Self care seemed indulgent . I grew up with a mother who was a martyr and she gave up her entire life for us kids. I owe my mom so much and I adore her so I thought that by being a martyr myself I would honor her. So, I said yes to breastfeeding my first son while pregnant with my second. I said yes to getting up whenever they needed me and I said no to everything that involved my own identity. Julie redefined what self care meant and how small doses could change everything. The book opened a space for me to explore what my version of self care would be and it meant going back to work. THAT was self care. Then, I got a chance to meet her and now I am a member of ModernWell, female co-working space that is about uplifting and supporting one another.

Julie is a wellness warrior, serial entrepreneur, author, mother and wife and very active member of her community.

I sat down with Julie to talk about ModernWell and how it came to fruition and to talk about self care and fears and entrepreneurship and motherhood and everything in between. She is wise, deep, very kind and someone I now greatly admire.

This interviews is very powerful and I know many of you will get so much out of it. And – if you are woman solopreneur and you need the most majestic space to work in, come check out ModernWell. And maybe I will see you there:)
