Yes you can, but you have to start by taking small action every day.
Hello my beautiful people and welcome to Uplevel Together. Oh my goodness, mamas out there if you are listening to this right now, motherhood is difficult. Someone once told me, “If it’s difficult you’re not doing it right,” and boy oh boy would I like to have a conversation with them again. I think being a parent, not just a mama, though mamas have a completely different role and experience it differently, is just the most difficult job on planet earth. And for me, when I first had my babies, they came so quickly, two in a year, I completely lost my compass. I lost myself, I lost who I was, I was thrown into the motherhood and martyrhood, and I think that it was how I was raised, and self care was… What was self care? It felt so selfish. I didn’t take care of myself at all, you again I think I did pretty good by my children but I think I would have done some things differently if I had a chance to do it over, mostly in how I took care of myself.
Meggie Martin
This is why our conversation today is so incredibly important. I bring you Meggie Martin who is the founder of The Mama Tribe and she is just the most incredible human, she has three children and a fourth on the way, I keep looking at her and thinking “How the heck do you do it all?” and she does it with such grace, and acknowledging that every day is not easy. So she walks me through her days and how she figures out her days and how she parents, and then we really dig into the conversation around “Why is motherhood so complex?” and “Why do we isolate ourselves?” and we talk about the self care and what are the themes and issues she sees arise as a common theme among new moms.
And from her Mama Tribe she gives us specific examples of the things that we can do, the steps we can take to really work on our marriage, work on ourselves, and why that’s really important. So this conversation is for every single mama out there that’s just struggling that just wants to hide herself in the bathroom for five minutes because needs some time off. But truly we want to talk about these things because together we know better. That’s why she created the Mama Tribe, where women can come together and feel like they’re not alone. So her idea came to her from attending ECFE early childhood classes and feeling like there were some other components missing like working on the marriage and practicing self care. So she created this beautiful method. And I love Meggie so much and I love watching her as a mother, and I know she loses it sometimes, I just know it, but I feel like even when she loses it she loses it with so much joy. She’s the kind of person that I turn to for parenting advice. So without further ado, Meggia and the conversation around Mama Tribe, and the challenges of motherhood.
